Forrest Gump (1994)

Right, so this is definitely one of my favorites.

I want to review this, not only because it is critically acclaimed but (and here is the maybe transparent observation), it includes SO many genres/themes that it would be silly not to praise it.

FIRSTLY, it features Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks. Now, being a Hanks fan I immediately fell in love with this film. Hanks brings a spark to this role, playing Forrest, a southern man who although is slow-witted, brings joy and love to everyone around him. His acting throughout is nothing less than spectacular, portraying a man who faces all sorts of situations and historical events; the audience is carried on an adventure, allowing them to recognize with the events and grow to love Forrest throughout.

SECONDLY, as mentioned above, it is literally JAM-PACKED with themes. From war, to love, to friendship, this Zemeckis hit takes the audiences on an emotional rollercoaster, which keeps them enthralled all the way to its bittersweet end. Due to the amount of genres/themes throughout the film, dissimilar to the usual stereotypical Hollywood film, it in a way is arguably targeted at a wider audience; appealing to both genders and I believe, to audiences members young and old.
