It Follows (2014)

This film is quite an odd one to explain. Simply put, it's about a young girl who after a sexual encounter, is constantly followed by a demonic entity – trapped in the body of a random person. The entity doesn't speak, it simply watches and tries to get to her.

The curse has to be passed on if you want to live. The unfortunate souls who do not pass on the curse...well you can guess what happens to them. It is certainly an odd concept, but an interesting one which leads to some very spine-chilling situations. Set in a small average-looking town in the US, the people in the film seem normal and therefore the audience can familiarise with them, thus making the film a little creepier.

The first time I saw this film I thought it was excellent. With a unique plot, creepy throughout and great acting, I recommended it to horror/thriller fans. The second time I saw it however (which was this weekend), I was left a little disappointed. Not because I knew what was going to happen but because I felt like the film dragged a little. Yes, it was still hair-raising at times, but I felt as if it took a while to get to those points.

The small cast is commendable and I like the unique plot, but I feel as though it is not the type of film (in my opinion) that you can watch over and over. It's good but not brilliant.
