Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
Length of the film viewed: around 50 minutes.
Right so this is something a bit different…I’m going to attempt to write my opinion on the part of the film I watched (I didn’t manage to make it through the whole film-the reason to which I will explain later).
I attempted to watch it for the first time last night.
Despite comments I have read about the poorly written script and atrocious acting, I thought I would give it a go, I mean it had ‘huge’ success so surely it couldn’t be THAT bad. Now there are not many films that I have to turn off because they are too bad to watch and yet last night this very thing happened.
Well to put it simply, the film in my opinion is absolutely terrible. Indistinguishably to what I was told, the acting by both Dakota Johnson (Ana Steele) and Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey), was questionable. Johnson spoke in a strange monotone and seemingly had no personality and Dornan had an awful American accent and was just plain creepy. Admittedly it can’t all be blamed on the acting as they were simply working from the horrendous script they were given.
I know I cannot give a full review of this as obviously I haven’t watched it all (and to be honest probably never will), but I thought I would lay bare my opinion on the part I did watch. Personally, I am a fan of the odd romantic film or Rom-Com and to be fair I have read a portion of the book; which I didn’t finish reading as it was so poorly written and just one big wince factor. The film similarly, I did not find romantic, but just incredibly cheesy.
Overall from what I viewed, I wouldn’t recommend this film to well..anyone. It was boring, the acting was stilted and was a waste of time.
