The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)

After seeing the trailer, we knew we had to see this film.

With Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman amongst the cast we knew this action/comedy was going to be great. It also appealed to us as it is partly filmed in Amsterdam, which we love.

The film is based around one of the worlds leading bodyguards Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) who after a failed job, gets a new client (Samuel L. Jackson) who he must protect at all costs. Darius Kincaid (Jackson) has to testify at the International Court of Justice in an incredibly important trial, thus the pair have to try and make it on time. It's quite hard to explain, as a lot happens and I don't want to give any spoilers...but basically Gary Oldman is an evil and bloodthirsty dictator from Belarus who is being charged with the death of hundreds of people and Darius Kincaid is the last witness alive. Travelling across different countries and cities to try and get to the trial before the dictator is emancipated, a series of funny and explosive drama unfolds.

Now it sounds like a heavier film than it is. Full of comedy, the duo are perfect as the leading protagonists and the chemistry between them is electric. With a brilliant soundtrack, visuals and acting from all of the cast (even with Gary Oldman doing a Eastern European accent), I would recommend this for anyone who liked Deadpool, Baby Driver or SPY

Even though it is slow at times, the majority of the film is full of thrills and laughs. The combat and chase scenes keep your attention and make you constantly wonder what will happen next.

A real gem, the film was easy to watch and well worth the nearly 2-hour duration. There is so much more to this film than what I have described, so take a look at the trailer and see what you think!
